MIT-DAT B.Des exam pattern our mocks follow
| Part | Section | Format | Questions | Marking |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| One paper · 3 hours | A · General awareness & aptitude | Multiple choice | 19 | Objective |
| B · Comprehension & design awareness | Passage, images, short written answer | 6 | Objective + written | |
| C · Design & creative ability | Drawing in pen and colour pencils | 4 | Creative |
MIT-ID doesn't publish marks per section; our mock is a 100-mark paper (A 38, B 17, C 45). Shortlisted students take a studio test and personal interview in Pune.
What every mock includes
- Section A: general awareness and aptitude
- Section B: comprehension, art appreciation and a short written answer
- Section C: four design and creative tasks in pen and colour pencils
How to use MIT-DAT mocks well
- Section C is drawn in pen and colour pencils — pencil-only drawings aren't accepted, so practise committing to lines.
- Keep at least 90 minutes for Section C's four creative tasks.
- Storyboard questions reward clarity: each frame should show one step.
MIT-DAT mock test: questions
What is the MIT-DAT exam pattern?
MIT Institute of Design's sample papers have three sections: general awareness and aptitude (multiple choice), comprehension and design awareness, and design and creative ability (drawing tasks).
What happens after the MIT-DAT?
Shortlisted candidates take a studio test and a personal interview at the Pune campus.
Is Mock Test 1 really free?
Yes. Fill in a short form and Mock 1 of any series opens straight away, timed and marked like the paid tests. Objective questions are marked instantly, and a TDH mentor reviews up to 2 of your drawing answers. In the full series, every drawing is marked.
Can I get personal guidance on my mock tests?
Yes. Connect with our counsellors to book a one-on-one session with a TDH mentor, for example to go through your answers, your drawings and your plan for the next few weeks. Mentor sessions are paid and booked separately from the mock test series.
What do I get in the full series?
10 full-length mock tests on the latest pattern of your exam, instant scores with section-wise and topic-wise reports, explanations for every objective question, and your drawing answers marked by a TDH mentor with written feedback. ₹799 at launch (MRP ₹999).
How do the drawing questions work online?
Just like the real exam, you draw on paper during the test. When time is up you get 20 extra minutes to photograph your sheets and upload them. A TDH mentor marks them against the criteria in the question and emails you the marks and feedback.
What if my internet drops or the page closes?
Your answers save automatically every few seconds, and the timer runs on our server. Reopen the test on any device and you'll continue where you left off, with the time that's left.
Can I take the tests on a phone?
Yes, the test screen works on phones, but a laptop or tablet is closer to the real computer-based exams. Keep your phone handy to photograph drawing answers.
When are new tests released?
New mocks are added through the season, each one checked by our mentors before release. Your series page shows which tests are open and which are coming next.
How do I open my tests on another device?
Use 'Sign in' on the mock tests page with the email you used to pay. We'll email you a link that signs you in on that device.
