FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is the Design DNA Test?
+
The Design DNA Test is a free online design career and aptitude test by The Design Habitat. In about 8 minutes it combines interest questions, visual choices, real-life design scenarios and short aptitude puzzles to reveal your design personality and the design careers that suit you best.
Who can take this design career test?
+
Anyone aged 14 or above — school students from Class 8 onwards, students in Class 11–12 choosing a design course, college students and graduates, and working professionals thinking about a switch into design.
Is the Design DNA Test free?
+
Yes. The test is completely free and takes about 8 minutes. Your personalised report is emailed to you as a PDF.
Which design careers does the test cover?
+
UX/UI and interaction design, graphic and communication design, brand and design strategy, product and industrial design, interior and spatial design, architecture, fashion design, textile design, animation and motion design, game design, illustration, jewellery and accessory design, and AR/VR/XR experience design.
Will it help me choose between NID, UCEED, NIFT, NATA and CEED?
+
Yes. For each of your top career matches, the report lists the relevant design entrance exams — such as NID DAT, UCEED, NIFT, NATA, CEED and MIT-DAT — and suggests next steps for your age and stage.
Is this the same as the NID DAT or UCEED exam?
+
No. The Design DNA Test is a career guidance and psychometric-style test, not an entrance exam. It helps you discover which design field fits you. To prepare for the entrance exams themselves, practise with past papers and mock tests.
How accurate are the results?
+
Your career matches are calculated from your answers using a fixed scoring model, so the same answers always give the same result. The puzzles are short, so treat aptitude scores as early signals — every design skill can be learned with practice. For a deeper discussion, book a free counselling session with our mentors.
